FAQ's FAQ's
  1. Q. What is Laser Therapy?
    A. Laser Therapy is the application of a laser beam to tissue or body parts to improve function. Successful laser treatment requires the proper dose of laser light and adequate tissue penetration. In other words, it requires the delivery of photons to the target tissue in the proper amount and energy.

  2. Q. How laser therapy works?
    A. Laser therapy causes a variety of biologic effects, the main being an increase of bio-energy in the exposed cells and tissues in the form of ATP (adeno-sino-triphosphate). The increased levels of ATP triggers a multitude of biological reactions leading to the repair and regeneration of injured or diseased tissue.

  3. Q. What are the potential side effects of laser treatment?
    A. Laser therapy is very safe and completely noninvasive. Due to the low energy of photons in the laser beam and proper wavelength, laser therapy causes no damage to cellular DNA or proteins and does not cause cancer. There are some lasers on the market, which can cause overheating of the tissue. This doesn’t apply to the lasers used at Medical Frontiers. Generally, side effects are very rare and never serious with the proper use of lasers. Laser Therapy is very safe and taking aspirin in therapeutic doses has the potential to cause more side effects then does Laser Therapy. Direct eye exposure must be avoided. The laser is safe in the presence of metal objects and pacemakers.

  4. Q. Are there any contraindication to laser treatment?
    A. Because of medico-legal issues in United States, Laser Therapy is contraindicated in the presence of cancer. Laser therapy would be contraindicated in this case just as ultrasound, any light therapy or other modalities with the potential to increase cellular activity.

  5. Q. Does the treatment hurt?
    A. The laser treatment is completely painless and most of the time patients experience no sensation at all.

  6. Q. How soon I will notice improvement?
    A. Most patients experience improvement immediately after treatment. The pain usually continues to improve for the first 24 hours.

  7. Q. How many treatment will I need?
    A. The number of treatment varies. It depends on individual response to laser as well as the condition treated. For example - carpal tunnel syndrome or tendonitis usually require only 3 to 5 treatments. Patients with chronic post-surgical back pain may need treatments over fa ew months. Patients with chronic pain usually come for maintenance treatment once month on a long-term basis.

  8. Q. How long the improvement in pain last?
    A. Usually patients experience long-term improvement, however, this again is highly variable.

  9. Q. How about the recovery time after treatment?
    A. There is no recovery time needed. Laser therapy will not interrupt current daily activities, because laser treatment is completely noninvasive and cause no disruption in body function.

  10. Q. Why nutritional supplements and vitamins are so important?
    A. Laser therapy triggers healing, regeneration and rejuvenation processes in the body. Proper nutrition is supplies the human body with the necessary elements to allow these processes to occur. At Medical Frontiers you will find comprehensive collection of pharmaceutical grade nutritional supplements and vitamins.
